Dedicated nursery slopes, gentle progressive runs and a fashionable disposition have put Lech on the map for stylish skiing newbies.

No expense has been spared here, from heated chair lifts and plush accommodation to stylish après in the form of gourmet restaurants and champagne bars, frequented by the impeccably dressed glitterati. The exclusivity is taken up a notch above the traditional village though, where the enclave of traffic-free Oberlech sits at 1,750m, offering doorstep skiing and picture-perfect views.

Though great for beginners, consistently high snowfall and treeless powder bowls are an off-piste skiers dream and heli-skiing in Austria is only permitted in Lech-Zürs. Lech is an excellent choice for families, particularly traffic free Oberlech with doorstep skiing and a dedicated Kinderland, where children can find their ski legs in a safe environment before progressing to gentle child-friendly pistes.

The extensive slopes and varied terrain of the Arlberg holds the status as the largest linked ski area in Austria. With consistently high snowfall, the Lech-Zürs-Warth-Schröcken area features fine scenic skiing and tremendous terrain for intermediates. Lift access to the pistes of St. Anton open up an array of steep runs and exceptional off-piste challenges, a dream for expert skiers and competent intermediates. Beginners will find dedicated nursery slopes in Lech and gentle progressive runs.
