Andrea recently returned from a fabulous week on the Rhone on-board the five-star MS Emerald gliding through vineyard country, which boasts some of the world's most exceptional wines. Tauck launched their first river cruise more than 20 years ago and soon realised that they could not offer an ordinary experience for their guests. They crafted a cruise that was ahead of its time, setting a standard for innovation and enrichment, on-board and ashore, that has guided them ever since.
Not only are they a world leader in guided land travel, In 2014 Tauck earned recognition by the readers of Travel + Leisure as the #1 ‘World’s Best River Cruise Line’ for the third time in the past four years. They have raised the bar with their new Inspiration Class riverboats, increased capacity, innovative designs and more added value, on-board and ashore. Andrea was given the unique opportunity to spend an unforgettable week cruising on the Rhone and experience the 'Tauck Difference’ for herself.
Having joined the cruise in Lyon, Andrea was instantly impressed by the ships luxurious surroundings and personalised service. Their riverboats are custom-designed to cater to your comfort with more space and amenities than other ships in their class and the MS Emerald didn’t disappoint, “It’s not just about the ship, Tauck think of everything so you don’t have to. Guests are treated to exclusive destination experiences, which you just don’t get anywhere else”.
The MS Emerald gently carried guests on the river Rhone through the scenic wonders of Provence, with its medieval towns, vineyards & Roman ruins. Viviers in particular is a charming walled city on the right banks of the Rhone and Andrea sampled various wines from the region, Cuvee Vieilles Vignes being one of her favourites! The most famous Roman ruin was Pont de Gard, a Roman aqueduct perched high over the River Gardon and a feat of Roman engineering that is also a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
After a week of wine tasting and sampling cutting edge French cuisine on-board the MS Emerald, it was time for Andrea to say Bon Voyage to her time on the French Waterways, "I have whole heartily embraced the ‘Tauck Difference’ and hope to travel with them again in the not too distant future".
